Camp Friendship Goes Rolling on the River

July 21st to 25th, 2008

(photo link of camp at bottom)

This year's camp will meet the last full week of July--that's July 21-25, 2008!  It may seem early but we always are together that last week.  We will again be at Paradise Manor Community Club, 529 Sauver Road, River Ridge, LA.  Our river adventure will cover lots of areas, though.  Think Memphis, BarBQue and Elvis!  We will go with Tom Sawyer, after we finish whitewashing the fence, on a great river raft race.  I am sure there will be plenty of fishin' and eatin' that fish!  Our fieldtrip will be to the Barataria Preserve on the Westbank of Jefferson Parish where we will learn everything about the Mighty Mississippi River and how it has traveled all the way down to New Orleans.  Families are invited to join in on Wednesday's fieldtrip--wear your explorer clothes.  All children and teens attending camp are invited to submit t-shirt designs depicting our theme, "Rolling on the River".  You can send t-shirt designs to the SBAGNO mailbox.

 Ms. Cindy

 Camp clothes & supplies

Bathing suit—Just wear to camp in the mornings as we swim first.  Wear your sunscreen, too.  We will have extra to apply later.  Pack 2 changes of clothes just in case.

Pool toys, floaties, etc. are allowed—please mark with your child’s name

Towel—children in wheelchairs often need 2.  Again—mark with your name!

Camp t-shirt:  Will come home with children on Monday to be worn on Wednesday.  Remember no swimming on Wednesday.  Wear camp t-shirt and bring backpack with supplies & change of clothes.

Bathroom supplies & Medications:  Please send your child’s toileting supplies each day.  I have their changing/catheterizing schedules on their camp forms.  Medications to be taken at camp need to be in the original bottles with the dosage instructions.  We can also give Tylenol or other over the counter medications if you include a note for the dosage.

Food and drinks: Free food and drinks are supplied all day.  There are breakfast options for those who do not eat at home and a good hot lunch (pizza, hamburgers, grilled chicken, jambalaya, etc.). There is a snack bar at the camp and I do not mind if children bring money to purchase something extra.
